Collaboration with Caitlin McCormack for 'Artist Rising'
I was recently asked by Night Gallery to participate in their show 'Artist Rising', where the goal was for "artists to support other artists". I chose a fellow Philly-based textile artist Caitlin McCormack to collaborate with.
Both of us work in a very detailed, processed-based fashion, and I thought our two styles would compliment each others very well.
Caitlin crochets small skeletal creatures and pins them to a pliable surface, so I had to contend with painting onto a felt covered board, which I had never tried before. Luckily my dotting technique lends itself to be applied to numerous surfaces.
Final piece was 12x12" (16x16" framed). We named the piece "Nox Transia", which roughly means 'the night passes'. The show runs from July 4- Aug 7.
